What is STARS?
The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is a “transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance,” offered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). AASHE is an official partner of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) program of the United Nations.

What is UCF’s STARS rating?
UCF is currently rated Silver, based on its 2021 report submission. The report is publicly accessible at https://reports.aashe.org/institutions/university-of-central-florida-fl/report/2021-03-05/.
The Sustainability Team is currently working on submitting an updated report for 2024!
UCF aims to advance to a Gold rating by 2027, and eventually reach the top tier of Platinum.
Who is responsible for UCF’s STARS report?
The Sustainability Initiatives Team, led by Sustainability Coordinator Ryan Chabot, is one of the ASI’s Learning by Leading Program teams. A team of interns support the Sustainability Coordinator in compiling the STARS report, as well as leading various Sustainability Initiatives around campus.
