Martin Haux was born and raised in former West Germany, where he obtained a degree in Ornamental Horticulture. His work in Germany focused on hydroponics, interiorscaping, greenhouse production, and propagation of trees, perennials, annuals and vegetables. After moving to Central Florida in 1992, Martin worked for Cypress Gardens as a gardener, and then took a position at Harry P. Leu Gardens, where he worked as a Horticultural Specialist for 12 years. Martin began at the UCF Arboretum in April 2008 as a Greenhouse Manager and quickly became an integral part of the team, bringing his botanical knowledge, horticultural expertise, and enthusiasm. Martin was involved in helping create some of the showcase landscapes on the UCF campus, bringing his skills in blending textures and seasonal color in his horticultural designs. He introduced many novel horticultural varieties that add beauty and novelty to the campus landscape. Martin oversaw daily landscape operations including planning, designing and implementing campus landscapes, including some interiorscapes, while working alongside hundreds of Arboretum and Landscape & Natural Resources volunteers.
